About
Hale Cocoa by Puna Chocolate Company, envisioned as their future flagship, makes its home in a nearly 80-year-old building in Kainaliu, marking the entrance to Southern Kona. The name "Hale Kokoleka," meaning "House of Chocolate" in Hawaiian, perfectly captures the essence of this establishment, which is deeply rooted in the Big Island's rich agricultural landscape. It's a place where the island's bounty is celebrated from bean to cup and bar. Here, the dedication to local produce is paramount, with all coffee and chocolate grown exclusively on the Big Island. Visitors can savor 100% Kona Coffee, with varietals like Typica, Gesha, and Mokka cultivated on their own 14-acre farm. This land also sees active reforestation efforts, transforming pasture into vibrant coffee and cacao orchards. Complementing their exceptional beverages are a selection of house-made bites and pastries. For a deeper dive, experiences including farm and tasting tours are offered nearby at Donkey Mill Cocoa & Coffee Farm. Looking ahead, Hale Cocoa is developing a four-acre park on their property, designed to educate guests about Hawaiian agriculture, unique island plants, and the journey of their locally grown Kona coffee and cacao. This initiative highlights their commitment not only to premium, locally sourced products but also to fostering a genuine connection between visitors and the agricultural heart of Hawaii.
