About
Since 1983, Lappert's Hawaii has been a cherished destination for those seeking authentic island flavors. It all began when founder Walter, a European-raised restaurateur, and his partner encountered less-than-stellar ice cream in Hawaii and decided to create their own "really fabulous" super-premium versions. From their initial kitchen in Hanapepe, Kauai, this passion for quality soon extended to coffee. By 1985, dissatisfied again with available options, they established their own roastery, championing Hawaiian coffee, particularly the renowned Kona varietal, alongside blends featuring hand-selected beans from local farmers and around the world. Today, Lappert's continues to make all its products fresh daily in small batches in Hanapepe. Visitors can indulge in over two hundred inventive ice cream flavors, many infused with local Hawaiian tastes, alongside delightful bakery goodies crafted from family recipes. Their coffee program remains a cornerstone, with Hawaiian grown beans artfully roasted in their own state-of-the-art facility. The enduring spirit of 'aloha' and 'ohana' (family) is palpable in their service and quality, making Lappert's more than just an ice cream and coffee shop; it’s a genuine experience of Hawaiian dedication and warmth.
