Nestled in Holualoa, within the heart of the renowned Kona Coffee Belt, Pine Village Small Farm (also known as Muramatsu Farm) offers an authentic taste of Big Island aloha. Since 2013, this family-run farm, helmed by Yukio Muramatsu and Sachiyo, has been dedicated to cultivating exceptional 100% Kona coffee. Their approach is deeply rooted in tradition and a profound respect for nature, drawing on Holualoa's rich Japanese coffee-growing heritage and wisdom passed down from island elders. The farm’s commitment to quality shines through in their meticulous, hands-on methods. Coffee cherries are carefully hand-picked, processed using a traditional hand-cranked pulper, and undergo a natural fermentation designed to develop Kona's signature refreshing acidity. Beans are then sun-dried on "hoshi-dana" racks and roasted on-site in a retro hot-air roaster, all while adhering to practices like using natural fertilizers and avoiding chemical pesticides since their early days. Beyond their exceptional coffee, they also cultivate about 200 cacao trees, thoughtfully crafting their own small-batch chocolate. Visitors are warmly invited to experience Pine Village Small Farm firsthand through reserved tours and tastings, offering a personal glimpse into their "Made with Aloha" philosophy. You can also find them at the Kamuela Farmers Market every Saturday, where their coffee is available alongside handmade Japanese culinary delights.
